The Original Mattress Factory was established in the year 1990. The idea behind the factory was to manufacture and sell mattress and box spring units to customers directly. The Inception

The company was the flagship venture of former Ohio Mattress Company employee, Ron Trzcinski. In its heyday,the Ohio Mattress Company was a market leader in the manufacture and marketing of mattresses and box spring units. The company’s 1988 decision to participate in a leveraged buyout made Ron Trzcinski, its President and Chief Operating Officer opt out. Ron  felt that the profiteering motives of the new owners did not match his own basic principles.

Ron then started contemplating opening his own mattress company. He got together with two of his former colleagues Perry Doerman and Larry Carlson. The trio were the founder memebrs of The Original Mattress Factory. The company opened its doors in Cleveland, Ohio in June 1990. From a five member organization the company has progressed to become an employer of over 500 people at 11 locations across the country, and it has developed a reputation as one of the better mattress discounters. Its showrooms have also crossed the 100 mark.
